Line 1 The periodic table arranges the elements in order of increasing atomic number.
Line 2 Elements in the same column behave in similar ways because they have the same number of electrons in their outer shell.
Line 3 Noble gases are stable because they have a full outer shell of eight electrons.
Line 4 Alkali metals react strongly with water, so they are stored under oil.
